Several Counties Canceled from the Winter Weather Advisory

| January 6, 2022 @ 10:32 am

NWS Birmingham has removed Marion and Winston counties from the Winter Weather Advisory. No other counties remain in the advisory in Central Alabama.

NWS Huntsville continues the Winter Weather Advisory for Colbert, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, and Morgan counties in North Alabama until 6 pm this evening, but has canceled the advisory for Cullman, DeKalb, and Marshall counties.

Mixed wintry precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch possible and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch within the counties covered by the advisory. Plan on slippery road conditions and the hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Dangerous cold will settle in tonight after the rain ends. Any water on roads will likely freeze and become ice. There is a high amount of forecast uncertainty, and snow and ice totals may fluctuate depending on the surface temperature. Please continue to monitor the forecast.
