| January 27, 2022 @ 11:10 am

It is looking great and feeling better out there this afternoon compared to the freezing temps this morning. With a generally sunny sky, temperatures are heading into the mid to upper 50s for much of the area, which is right where they should be for this time of year.

Clouds will begin to increase tonight ahead of the front, and those clouds will keep temperatures in the low to mid 30s tonight.

USA BRIEF: A potential winter storm may impact the East Coast beginning Friday through the weekend. A pair of storm systems may meet and combine off the Eastern Seaboard into a powerful low pressure system. At this time, heavy snow, gusty winds and coastal hazards are possible from North Carolina to New England with the most significant impacts in eastern New England. This forecast will continue to evolve.

FRONT TOMORROW: Tomorrow will feature more clouds than sun as a cold front sweeps through the state. Again, lower levels of the atmosphere will be to dry for rain, but temperatures will begin to fall as the front passes your location. Most North/Central Alabama communities will see highs in the 40s tomorrow. Also, winds will be increasing late in the day, and that will make it feel colder, but also allow for a frigid Friday night and Saturday morning across Alabama.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday morning will be cold with temperatures in the upper teens and lower 20s, add in gusty north winds, and wind chill values are expected to be in the single digits to start the day. Saturday will be sunny and cold with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s and again, it will remain breezy, likely keeping wind chills below freezing. Finally the winds will relax Saturday night and Sunday morning lows again fall into the the low 20s, but the day will be warmer with highs returning to the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny, dry days with a highs around 60 degrees. Then rain and storms looks to return for Wednesday and Thursday. Some strong storms may be possible, but this is still a week away, so a lot to watch in the coming days. Expect dry and colder to return to end the week and into the first weekend of February.
