NWS Birmingham Extends Winter Storm Warning to Include a Few More Counties

NWS Birmingham extends the Winter Storm Warning to now include Blount, Cherokee, and Etowah counties in Central Alabama. These counties are in effect along with Marion and Winston counties starting at midnight tonight and is set to expire at 9 am Saturday morning.

• WHAT… Snow and sleet expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of up to two inches, with locally higher totals possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

• IMPACTS… Plan on slippery road conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.


A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect tonight at midnight and is set to expire at 9 am Saturday morning for Bibb, Calhoun, Clay, Cleburne, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties in Central Alabama.
