It’s a Sunny Saturday, but It’s Getting a Little Windy Out There

| March 26, 2022 @ 11:41 am

THE MIDDAY CHECKUP: As of the 11 am roundup, we have sunny skies across all of Central Alabama with temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to the mid 60s across the area. The warm spots were Eufaula and Troy at 64º. Haleyville was the cool spot at 56º. Birmingham was sitting at 58º.

One thing you probably have noticed is that the wind has been breezy at times across the area, and we could see some gusts up to 35 mph out of the west. For that reason, a Wind Advisory goes into effect at noon and is set to expire at 6 pm this evening for the following counties in Central Alabama: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston.

THE REST OF YOUR SATURDAY: Skies will remain sunny and afternoon highs will top out in the 63º-70º range across Central Alabama. Don’t let those nice temperatures fool you as those clear skies will let the mercury drop during the late-night and overnight hours, and some frost will be possible over the northern and northeastern parts of the area. A Frost Advisory goes into effect at 3 am early Sunday morning and is set to expire at 8 am for the following counties in Central Alabama: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Marion, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston, as lows will fall into the 34º-37º range for those counties.

A Freeze Warning has been issued for the northernmost counties in North Alabama and a Frost Advisory has been issued for the rest of North Alabama with the only difference in timing is that they are set to expire at 9 am Sunday morning.

SUNDAY’S WEATHER: We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds on Sunday, and after the chilly start, we’ll have a nice warm-up with afternoon highs ranging from the upper 50s in the northwest to the lower 70s in the south.
