Warning for Portions of Jackson, DeKalb, and Marshall Counties CHanged To Areal Flood Warning until 6 p.m.

…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of northeast Alabama, including the following
counties, DeKalb, Jackson and Marshall.

* WHEN…Until 600 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all
the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems
in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 227 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in southwest DeKalb, south central Jackson, and
Marshall counties. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have
fallen.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Albertville, Scottsboro, Boaz, Guntersville, Arab,
Rainsville, Henagar, Crossville, Sylvania, Fyffe, Hollywood,
Powell, Geraldine, Section, Pisgah, Dutton, Langston,
Lakeview, Union Grove and Hopewell.

* At 1132 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are
possible in northeast Marshall, southwestern DeKalb, and south
central Jackson counties. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
