Heavy Rain over Birmingham Metro

| September 4, 2022 @ 4:38 pm

Storms with heavy rain are impacting much of downtown and North Birmingham at this hour.

The activity is pushing northeast and will overspread eastern and northeastern parts of Jefferson County.

Further north, a flood advisory has been issued for the northwestern part of Jefferson, as well as southeastern Walker, and southern Blount counties. There 1-2 inches of rain fell from earlier storms from near Sumiton to Smoke Rise.

Elsewhere, light to moderate rain covered mush of North and East Alabama.

A line of scattered storms is over western Alabama from Marion down through Fayette, Pickens, Sumter, Marengo, and Butler Counties. It is moving northeast and could affect the rest of Central Alabama before it begins dying after sunset.
