Midday Nowcast: Showers Ending this Afternoon

It remains mainly cloudy with spotty showers, but these should end later this afternoon; most locations are in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Clouds decrease tonight and we should see lows in the mid and upper 30s for our northern communities, with low 40s to the south.

REST OF WEEK: Tomorrow will be partly sunny and dry with a high in the 60s. Thanksgiving Day will be mainly cloudy, and we will mention a chance of rain moving in from the west during the afternoon. Rain becomes widespread Thursday night and it looks to linger into Friday. While a rumble of thunder is possible, no severe storms are expected. Temperatures will be very pleasant Thanksgiving Day with a high in the mid to upper 60s. Friday highs will be in the mid-60s.

WEEKEND WEATHER: Forecast confidence remains low as we roll into the weekend. For now, we will continue to mention rain lingering much of the day Saturday. Like Friday, some thunder is possible, but for now we don’t expect any severe storms. Saturday’s high will be in the mid-60s, and the rain will end Saturday night. Sunday will be dry and pleasant with a high in the mid-60s.

IRON BOWL: For Saturday’s big game (Auburn at Alabama, 2:30p CT kickoff in Tuscaloosa), we are going to need to introduce a chance of rain during the game with temperatures generally in the low 60s. This remains a low confidence forecast; we will have much better clarity as we get closer to the weekend. But, for now plan on taking the rain gear. Rain is also likely Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa.

NEXT WEEK: An upper ridge will build across the Gulf Coast, meaning much of the week will be mild and dry with highs in the 60s. No sign of freezing temperatures for at least the next 10 days.

IN THE TROPICS: All is quiet in the Atlantic basin and no development is expected through the weekend. The season comes to an end at the end in eight days.
