Midday Nowcast: Sunshine is Back in Full Supply

| February 3, 2023 @ 10:20 am

Dry air is back with a sunny sky, but despite the sunshine it remains cold with highs in the 40s, with breezy northerly wind at times. Tonight will be clear and cold with lows well down in the 20s.

WEEKEND WEATHER: The weekend will be dry with more sun than clouds both days. Highs tomorrow will be seasonable, in the 50s, but we should see 60s return Sunday after starting the day off in the 30s.

BRTUAL WIND CHILL: Not here thankfully, but in New England this weekend. A powerful cold front will sweep completely through the Northeastern U.S. this morning to deliver a glancing shot of arctic air to the region through Saturday. Dangerous wind chills are likely and widespread wind chill warnings and advisories are already in effect for all of New England and parts of the Northeast. Even though it’s a short lived blast, conditions will be extremely dangerous. In fact some locations in Maine could see wind chills around -60°.

NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be dry and mild with highs in the 60s and 70s. A few showers are possible over North Alabama Wednesday, and rain and storms will be more likely by Thursday, Thursday night, and possibly part of the day Friday. This system could bring some risk of strong storms, but it is too early to know if there will be a severe threat.
