The Midday Report — Mostly Clear, Dry, & Very Warm… Isolated to Scattered Showers & Storms Possible

| May 13, 2023 @ 11:26 am

As of 11:15 am, skies are mostly clear, and the radar is free from any precipitation at this point. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some showers and storms to start developing as we move into the afternoon to early evening hours. Temperatures were ranging from the lower 70s to the lower 80s across the area. Troy was the warm spot at 82º. The cool spot was Gadsden at 73º. Birmingham was at 80º as of the 11 am Roundup.

Isolated to scattered afternoon to early evening showers and thunderstorms are possible today, with the slightly higher risks along and north of the I-22 corridor and from Birmingham to roughly Roanoke. No matter where you are in Central Alabama, it will get quite warm, as highs will top out in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. For tonight, we’ll keep a small chance of showers during the evening hours, but those will dissipate and skies will be partly cloudy. Lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Sunday will not be that much different weather-wise than what we’ll see today; however, afternoon highs will be hotter. It now looks like most, if not all, of Central Alabama will make it into the lower 90s. Those northern locations in the area (Gadsden, Haleyville, Cullman) may just stay right below 90º. Once again, isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible mainly during the afternoon to early evening hours.
