Storm Over Fayette County First to go Severe

Weatheradios just sounded across parts of Central Alabama as we have our first severe thunderstorm warning of the new day.

There is likely hail between Fayette and Berry, perhaps as large as quarters. Damaging winds are also likely.

Tops on the strongest storms are over 50,000 feet in Fayette, Walker, southern Cullman, and Blount Counties.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Southwestern Walker County in central Alabama…
North central Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama…
Eastern Fayette County in west central Alabama…

* Until 330 AM CDT.

* At 237 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Bankston, or
10 miles east of Fayette, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Berry, Parrish, Oakman, Boley Springs, Bankston, Whitson, Windham
Springs, West Corona, Fayette County Public Lake, New Lexington,
Wiley, The Wye and Corona.
