Alabama Update at 4:50 p.m. Watch May be Required Further South Says SPC

| August 13, 2023 @ 4:53 pm

Severe thunderstorms are moving across the Tennessee valley at this hour. We have gotten a few reports of wind damage from Colbert and Lauderdale Counties.

Here is the radar across the northern third of Alabama:

The ywllow polygons are severe thunderstorm warnings. The light blue ones are significant weather advisories.

Across the middle third of the state, showers and storms are mainly in the Montgomery area up through Sylacauga.

Severe thunderstorm watch continues for the counties in pink in North Alabama.

The SPC just said that a watch may be required further southward:

Be alert to changing weather conditions and seek safe shelter in a substantial structure if a storm approaches you.
