Midday in Alabama

Some showers and thunderstorms developed earlier today than they did yesterday and a little better spread out.

Shortly after noon, most of them were widely separated. Probably the best concentration is along the Marengo/Choctaw County line and Choctaw/Clarke County line in Southwest Alabama.

Other scattered ones were over east central and southeast Alabama. Almost all of them are wanting to move toward the southeast.

Not a great deal of lightning yet, but they are just in the formative stage.

A brief shower has given Cropwell 0.20 rain within the last few minutes.

HOT WEATHER NOTES:
At Jemison in North Chilton county, it was 94 degrees at noon with a heat index of 107.
McCalla, in Southwest Jefferson County reports a heat index of 104.
