Cooking at Mid Afternoon

All of Alabama was simmering this afternoon. Every nook and cranny, every hill and valley, are bathed in high humidity and heat.

At 3 o’clock, there were almost no showers or thunderstorms over the north half of the state, but there were some scattered ones across South Alabama, mainly from about Autauga County southward. They were showing erratic movment with most of them moving very little at all.

The old thermometer had crossed the 100-degree mark in a few areas with a heat index over 110 in some spots.

Practically the entire state is under a Heat Advisory for tomorrow. A Code Orange air quality alert continued for Jefferson and Shelby County today for particulate pollution. That will probably be extended for tomorrow.
