Tornado analysis- 553 pm

Three storms at the southern end of the line, one moving into Fayette County, one in Pickens County, and one approaching southern Pickens county, all look dangerous. The wind shear is slowly decreasing from off-the-chart to very high over AL, still plenty to support tornadoes. Funnel clouds have been reported in west Alabama. The air is not as unstable as it was over MS, so hopefully we can avoid a long-track tornado like the one in Yazoo, but tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are all likely as the line of supercells moves slowly eastward this evening.

This event will last until after sunset, so it could get more dangerous as it approaches the BHM area between 630 and 730 pm. Also, flash flooding will continue to be an issue doe to training cells and heavy rains all day.

Continue to take this event very seriously. I know we’ve had you on alert for a while, but now is not the time to relax, since the storms are only 2 counties away from Jefferson and Shelby now., and one away from TCL.
