THE HEAT CRANKS UP: Still looks like we will be very close to the 90 degree mark tomorrow and Thursday as summer-like weather sets in. The days will feature a sun-filled sky as dry air stays in place.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: A strong short wave will move over the Great Lakes Friday, and will drag a cold front through Alabama Friday night. We will continue to mention a small risk of a shower along that front late Friday night or early Saturday morning, but rain should be very light and spotty, and most places won’t have enough rain to measure. The weekend looks great with a good supply of sunshine Saturday and Sunday along with cooler temperatures. Looks like highs will drop into the 75 to 78 degree range.

NEXT WEEK: Our old front will move northward as a warm front early next week in response to a developing storm out west, and the 12Z GFS shows a few showers along that front Monday, and we will probably go ahead and insert that risk into the forecast. Nothing heavy, just a few showers. The rest of the week looks warm and dry, with highs in the 80s. The primary rain producing systems should pass north of Alabama.

LONG RANGE: Still looks like below average rain and above average temps for Alabama through mid-May with the storm track remaining north of here.
