Bad news from Illinois…

Extensive damage is being reported tonight from Dwight, IL. Law enforcement and fire department reports heavy damage on the south side of Dwight.

This tornado will pass just south of Kankakee, IL. Kankakee is a little over 50 miles south of Chicago.

You can see the extreme velocity couplet on the ILX radar. The signature is just 34 miles from the radar and is 2500 feet above the ground.

Over 115 knots of gate to gate shear was observed a short time ago.

Apparently VORTEX2 caught a multi-vortex tornado in Iowa earlier today.
