Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

A Cool High Today

| October 3, 2010 @ 3:02 pm | Reply

At 2 pm, the temperature at the Birmingham airport had reached 69 degrees. My forecast called for most locations to only reach the upper 60s, so from a verification standpoint, my forecast appears to have missed the mark just a bit.

But, if the Birmingham observation location only reaches 70 for a high today, you have to look all the way back to May 10th of this year for the last time a high in Birmingham was 70 or below – that’s nearly 5 months! Wow!!

My forecast for the lows Monday morning is for temperatures mainly in the lower 40s. Again looking back at observations for Birmingham for 2010, you have to go all the way back to April 28th to find a low in the lower 40s (actually 42 degrees).

I’m happy that Fall has finally arrived.
