Early Afternoon in Alabama

| December 14, 2010 @ 9:38 am | 15 Replies

The sun was shinning over most of Alabama very early this afternoon. A welcome relief when compared to our recent weather.

However, it is still quite cold. Temperatures were only in the mid 20s across much of the Tennessee Valley. However, the thermometer has fought its way to just above freezing across Central Alabama including the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston areas.

The entire state was a deep freeze overnight, well below freezing all the way to the coast. The coldest reported in the state was a low of 6 above between Hytop and Skyline on the higher terrain of NE Alabama. (Thanks to Mike Wilhelm for that report)

The NWS in Huntsville has a Winter Weather Advisory posted for tomorrow over Extreme North Alabama. Includes all of the Tennessee Valley and counties as far south as Cullman. For a possible mix of light, sleet, freezing rain or snow.

We will try to zoom in on that potential when we post our Afternoon Edition around 2:30 or so this afternoon.

Lets look at some morning lows not only in Alabama but some other areas also:
