EASY FORECAST: Doesn’t get much simpler this time of the year. Dry weather is the story through Tuesday of next week… we just have to figure out the highs and the lows.

We do note that this afternoon is a little cooler than forecast; most places are in the 57-62 degree range at 2:00. The illegal clouds we saw early this morning are long gone, and we have a clear and cool night ahead with a low in the low 40s by daybreak tomorrow.

SUMMER PREVIEW AHEAD: The really big warm-up begins tomorrow, with a high in the upper 70s. Then, look for low 80s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which will mean the warmest weekend so far this year with ample sunshine on a daily basis.

NEXT WEEK: We stay warm and dry Monday and Tuesday, and we see no reason for anything other than low 80s with the Gulf ridge in place. The 12Z GFS has really backed off on the idea of a mid-week rain event… this run keeps us dry Wednesday, followed by just a few scattered showers along a cold front on Thursday. Friday of next week (March 25) will be cooler, but the upper trough axis is well to the east, so for now it doesn’t look like we will have a late season freeze threat at that time.

AT THE BEACH: Check our our Gulf Shores SKYCAM and you can see the spring break crowds are huge, and the weather is excellent. The weather will stay dry through early next week on the coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores, with highs on the immediate coast in the mid to upper 60s, but a few miles inland temperatures will be around 80 this weekend. Sunny days, clear nights. No rain at all.

LONG RANGE: Still no sign of any serious late season cold snap on the operational GFS runs, but keep an eye on that negative NAO that might mean one or two good cold shots in early April. I still think we have not seen the last of freezing temperatures.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
