Things are still breezy but generally quiet across Alabama late this afternoon.

The showers over the Tennessee Valley have never amounted to anything because they just have no instability to work with, despite temperatures in the 70s and dewpoints in the 50s and 60s.

Those showers extend from Walker through Cullman and Blount, Etowah and Marhsall and DeKalb and Cherokee Counties.

The more substantial storms are over Tennessee from Nashville to east of Jackson TN. These storms will mainly move east over the next couple of hours. They could drift down into the Tennessee Valley. A tornado watch is in effect for the entire state of Tennessee.

A few showers and isolated storms may pop up this evening further to the south, as far south as I-20 as a cold front approaches.

The cold front is approaching northwestern Tennessee and will progress southeastward this evening. When it passes late tonight, it will end the showers and storms. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 40s to lower 50s. Highs on Thursday will be in the 50s with a brisk northwest breeze and a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds will be thicker the further north that you go in the wraparound circulation around the departing upper trough.
