Storms Roll Into South Alabama

| November 14, 2007 @ 11:27 pm | Reply

A very good rain event for Alabama this afternoon tonight thanks to a long line of thunderstorms that stretched all the way across the state. Dozens of communities received 1/2 to 3/4 inch of rain and a number of locations crossed the one inch mark!

That is huge!

Very huge!

Not a drought breaker. No one rain event can do that. It will take lots of them. With rain deficits for the year well over 20 inches, we absolutely will not catch up this year.

Better luck next year.

We hope.

As the midnight hour loomed near, the long line of thunderstorms was pushing into South Alabama. The rain has ended from Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston northward. Montgomery will get heavy rain soon.

We will start updating again early tomorrow morning. By mid-morning, we will have posted dozens of rain totals.

Much cooler air was overrunning the state late tonhight with the cold front almost to Montgomery. With brisk north winds up to 25 mph Thursday and highs only in the 50s, it will feel almost like a different season as compared to today!

So goes weather.

So goes life.

And life goes on, sleep or no sleep….zzzzzzzzzz
