Scroll down for JB’s list of morning lows.

The past few days have featured temperatures that were way below normal, especially during the daytime.  An upper-level low moved across the southeast US, lifting and dynamically cooling the air.  Plus, we had clouds for most of the 4 days, so the sun couldn’t do much.

The highs at BHM airport the past 4 days were: 69 (Sat.), 62 (Sun.), 63 (Mon.), 67 (Tue.).  The 4-day average high was 65.25.  The last time we had 4 daytimes this chilly in May was May 1-4, 1921!  Notice that was early May.  This year it was May 14-17.  So, this was, by far, the coolest 4-day period this late in the Spring.  The next closest was in 2002, when the average high was 68.25 on May 18-21.
