Eyes On Irene

| August 21, 2011 @ 2:01 pm | 3 Replies

Model data and climatology suggest Tropical Storm Irene won’t be an issue for the Gulf of Mexico, which is great news for the Alabama Gulf Coast. However, our friends down in the Florida Peninsula (not the Panhandle) and up and East Coast will need to be ready for lots of rain from Irene in 4-6 days.

The system will be over Hispaniola and Cuba at times, and this interaction with land is the biggest wild card in the storm’s development. One way or another, it looks like a big soaker for much of the East Coast.
