An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

The 12Z models are a little slower in our mid-week system, which makes sense for a deep upper trough like this, and it looks like much of the action could come after daybreak Wednesday.

Tomorrow will be dry for the most part, but windy. Strong winds out of the south could gust to 35 mph at times as low pressure deepens to the west. A rogue shower could pop up somewhere, but we believe most of the day will be rain-free. To the west, SPC now has much of Southeast Texas under a moderate risk of severe weather tomorrow (watch the Weather Xtreme video for all of the associated graphics), with a slight risk all the way from the Corpus Christi to Paducah, Kentucky.

WEDNESDAY: The latest model data now suggests the prime risk of severe weather in Alabama from 4:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Once again, there will be plenty of shear available, but very limited instability. The greatest risk will come from damaging straight line winds, but a few isolated tornadoes will be possible. Everyone will need to be ready for severe weather Wednesday morning, and be sure you can hear severe weather warnings if they are issued.

Looks like rain totals of around one inch will be likely Wednesday, with isolated amounts to two inches over the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama.

Thursday and Friday will be very pleasant days, with ample sunshine. The high Thursday will be in the mid to upper 60s, with low 70s by Friday.

EASTER WEEKEND: While Saturday will remain dry, a short wave passing north of Alabama will bring the chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Sunday. For now, it doesn’t look like a severe weather or heavy rain event, but we need to get the mid-week system out of here before we can feel too confident in a specific solution for Sunday.

LONG RANGE: The GFS continues to show an impressive rain/thunderstorm event around March 26…. out in voodoo country.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. John Johnson of WXIA-TV in Atlanta will join us tonight as we discuss the Friday night tornado in downtown Atlanta… the new episode should be posted around 10:00 tonight.

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow!
