**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today**

I am riding south on I-65 (no, I am not driving!) with some associates working on a special project this afternoon… Ashley Brand will handle the 5:00 and 6:00 weather segments on ABC 33/40… I will be back in the studio for the 10:00. We are passing the Pine Level exit on I-65 just north of Prattville as I write this.

RIGHT NOW: The mass of rain and storms that moved through Alabama this morning is mostly in Georgia, although a few showers are lingering over East Alabama. The warm air aloft and weak lapse rates kept most of the storms below severe limits… a rather refreshing change.

The actual cold front is moving into Northwest Alabama right now, and another line of showers and storms could form along the front, but with limited instability and weakening shear, severe weather problems now seem unlikely with the actual front. The sky will clear tonight in the wake of the front, and the weather looks excellent tomorrow through Saturday with mostly sunny mild days and clear cool nights.

EASTER SUNDAY AND MONDAY: For now, the weather during the daytime hours Sunday looks dry with a high near 60 degrees, but the GFS continues to trend toward the idea of a rather vigorous upper trough spinning up a low in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico Sunday night and Monday. This would spread light rain into Alabama, perhaps as early as Sunday evening. And yep, the thickness values will drop, and somebody might even see a few snow flakes late Sunday night and Monday morning. In fact, if you believe the 12Z GFS, there might even be a chance of accumulating snow for parts of North Alabama. We sure aren’t ready to go there in our public forecasts yet, but the idea is on the table. It can snow in late March, you know…

The weather will be dry and warmer Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

VOODOO LAND: The GFS continues to show the next chance of strong storms around March 28…

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

We will get back to the “two a day” video schedule tomorrow… I will have the next Weather Xtreme video posted by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow!
