Lots of concern about when storms will affect Birmingham.

The main line of storms is over Northwest Alabama. The line is moving east at 30 mph. Individual storms are moving NE at 40 mph. This activity will reach Birmingham around 4 p.m.

But…additional storms are forming ahead of the main line. These storms could affect areas ahead of the main line earlier. The storms in Tuscaloosa County north and west of Tuscaoosa/Northport should reach western Jefferson County around 2:45 p.m. They are not severe yet but could become severe at any time.

Storms over Hale County will reach Shelby County around 3:15-3:30 p.m. They are not severe yet either…but have the potential to become severe.

A tornado watch is in effect for west central and northwest Alabama, but the watch may be extended to other parts of Central Alabama shortly.

Tornado warning for Cullman and Morgan Counties. Skywatcher Mike Wilhelm reports a wall cloud. It is south of West Point. We can also wee the wall cloud on the Cullman Skycam.
