Severe weather is occurring across Alabama this afternoon…

A tornadic thunderstorm is in southern Morgan County north of Fairview…. Mike Wilhelm reports a huge wall cloud is still shown on the storm just northwest of Fairview. This storm is moving into an area where shear is greater and a tornado is likely.

A line of strong to severe storms is over Northwest and West Central Alabama from west of Huntsville to Moulton to east of Hamilton and to near Vernon.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Fayette, Lamar, Winston Marion and Walker Counties until 2:45. Lots of torrential rain and lightning, as well as hail and damaging winds possible with this activity. Strongest now in the areas between Hamilton and Brilliant through Guin to Vernon. Nasty storms.

Severe thunderstorm warning for Fayette, Lamar and Pickens…for storms west of Kennedy, Millport and Ethelvsille.

Tornado warnings also for Madison County for storm north of Huntsville and Lawrence County for storm near Moulton. NWS employee reports rotating wall cloud near Hughes Road in Madison.

Tornado watch until 4 p.m. for West Central and Northwest Alabama. This watch will be extended east and south.
