A few showers and storms have developed this afternoon across Central Alabama.
At 2:25, they are located generally in a zone just south of I-20, from Hale and Tuscaloosa Counties in the west across Jefferson, Shelby and Chilton Counties, on to Talladega, Coosa, Clay and Randolph Counties.
The heaviest cells were near Sylacauga, in southern Talladega County, where lightning was occurring.
Another decent cluster was over southern Chambers County, approaching the city of Lafayette.
One cell was growing over eastern parts of the city of Tuscaloosa.
Everything is pushing northeast at 15-20 mph.
Temperatures have warmed into the lower and middle 80s this afternoon across the middle of Alabama.
Showers and storms will increase late tonight and Monday across Alabama. They will continue into Tuesday before a cold front brings an end to the rain. Some places could get between two and four inches of rain by late Tuesday.
