The cold front came through Alabama yesterday about as we expected with only a few clouds. It had pushed into South Alabama this morning and should continue to push southward in response to the sharp trough over the eastern half of the country. As a result, cooler and drier air will be coming into Central Alabama. Temperatures were in the 50s this morning and dew points had plunged into the 30s across the Ohio Valley and as far south as Nashville. Looks like it will be a really cool early morning for Monday with lows in the 40s. That also means that those typically cooler places could dip briefly into the upper 30s. Weather Watcher Vic Bell reported a low of 45 this morning with 49 at Noccalula Falls near Gadsden.

Plenty of sun today will see afternoon highs climb into the upper 70s which will feel great with the lowered humidity.

Looks like the surface high settles in for the week while the upper trough flattens. This should provide us with another coolish day Tuesday with a nice warmup for the latter part of the week. Look for highs in the mid 80s by Friday and Saturday. Right now, next Friday’s high school football games appear dry with the next chance for rain coming Saturday and Sunday as the Gulf opens somewhat and an upper trough comes into the mid Mississippi River Valley.

The long range model projections have a pretty cold look for the northern tier of the country with a rain event for us around October 8th.

Don’t look now, but Nadine may be back. The remnants of what was Nadine have made the loop and are moving westward in the Atlantic. There is an excellent chance, 90 percent according to NHC, that it will regenerate into a tropical storm in the next 48 hours. Looks like this one is much like that relative that comes for a visit and won’t leave!!

Thanks for staying with the Weather Xtreme Video. James Spann will be back with the next edition first thing Monday morning. Glad to see the FSU Seminoles come alive in the third quarter and squelch the Clemson Tigers. Could not help but switch back and forth between that game and the LSU-Auburn game which was very exciting.

Make it a great day and Godspeed.
