NICE AND QUIET: Usually in mid-November, some part of the U.S. is being slammed by a winter storm or severe weather outbreak, but not today. A calm pattern continues for much of the continental U.S. including Alabama.

We project sunny cool days and clear cold nights through the weekend, with highs in the 61-65 degree range, and morning lows between 32 and 40. You might see a few high, cirrus clouds from time to time, but the low levels will remain very dry with dewpoints in the 20s and 30s.

THANKSGIVING WEEK: Not much change as the benign weather continues. Mostly sunny days, fair nights. Highs in the 60s, lows generally in the 40s. A short wave will impact the state Tuesday, but no moisture means hardly any chance of rain.

TRAVEL WEATHER: Wednesday is the biggest travel day of the year according to some, and most of the U.S. will enjoy pleasant weather with no major airport delays due to weather. The most inclement weather in the nation will be over the Pacific Northwest… lots of rain for places like Seattle and Portland with interior snow.

VOODOO LAND: The 06Z GFS hints our weather might get more interesting in the November 26-December 2 time frame with a couple of strong cold fronts. See the Weather Xtreme video for the details and graphics.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Looks great for the high school playoff games tonight; the sky will be clear with temperatures falling from near 52 at kickoff into the 40s by the second quarter.

Alabama will host Western Carolina tomorrow morning at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa (11:21 a.m. kickoff)… the sky will be mostly sunny, with temperatures rising from near 60 at kickoff to 64 at the final snap. Auburn hosts Alabama A&M at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon… there will be a good supply of sunshine during the game; the kickoff temperature will be near 63 degrees, falling into the 50s by the fourth quarter as the sun goes low on the horizon.

Very similar weather for the UAB/Memphis game tomorrow afternoon at Legion Field (1:00 kickoff); lots of sunshine with a kickoff temperature near 64 degrees, but falling into the 50s late in the game as darkness nears.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
