Happy Thanksgiving!

**I will produce a Weather Xtreme video later today when I arrive at ABC 33/40**

MILD THANKSGIVING DAY: Happy Thanksgiving from the weather team at ABC 33/40… the good news is that our weather will remain delightful today with ample sunshine and a high around the 70 degree mark. Doesn’t get much better this time of the year.

TO THE NORTH: A cold front is moving steadily southward over the nation’s breadbasket, and that front will push through North Alabama late tomorrow afternoon. A few sprinkles could accompany the front over the Tennessee Valley region of extreme North Alabama, but the air will be very dry down this way and we don’t expect any measurable rain as the front blows through. We will reach the mid to upper 60s tomorrow afternoon.

COLD WEEKEND: Saturday will be a different kind of day; while the sun will be out in full force, the weather will be windy and cold. Many North Alabama communities won’t get out of the 40s, and a stiff north wind will make it feel colder. Then, by early Sunday morning, temperatures will drop into the 22-28 degree range, with some potential for upper teens for the coldest valleys across North Alabama. It should be the coldest morning so far this fall. The day Sunday will be sunny and cool with a high in the upper 50s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Tomorrow night will be dry and cold for the remaining high school playoff games; the sky will be mostly fair with temperatures falling into the 40s during the games with a north breeze of 10-15 mph.

Then, the biggest game of the year in our state is Saturday, and the weather will be cold and dry for the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa (2:30 p.m. kickoff). The sky will be clear; the kickoff temperature will be around 51 degrees, falling into the 40s by halftime, and possibly into the upper 30s by the final whistle. A brisk north wind of 10-20 mph will make it feel colder.

SEVERE WEATHER NEXT TUESDAY? Computer model data continues to show a dynamic storm system moving into Alabama Tuesday. The dynamics will certainly support strong to severe storms, but the thermodynamics remain in question. It will all depend on the amount of instability, so we will be watching computer model trends closely in coming days. Much colder air will follow the storms on Wednesday.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
