Late Night Position Report

At 11:30 tonight, that long line of intense thunderstorms extended from West Tennessee and NW Mississippi down across Extreme SE Arkansas and NW Louisiana.

The forward movement of this line of storms has slowed.

Which allows extremely heavy rain to accumulate.

A number of Flash Flood Warnings have been issued because of this.

Also, the NWS/Storm Prediction Center is thinking about issuing new watches in Louisiana, Mississippi and possibly into Alabama. They will probably decide by around midnight.

It may be toward daybreak when the strobgest storms reach the Birmingham area but earlier in West Alabama.

NWS/Mobile has posted a Flash Flood Watch for Saturday for these areas:

….Southwest Alabama
….Northwest Florida Panhandle
….Southeast Mississippi

2 to 4 inches of additional rain possible, heavier in some areas. Thunderstorms will be training across the same areas Saturday because the line of storms will be moving so slowly.
