Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Greene County

Showers and some embedded thunder are over the northwestern quarter of Alabama at this time.

There is a small amount of instability and a fairly decent amount of low level helicity, so we are getting rotational signatures on Doppler radar.

One is near Fayette right now. Other indications of possible strong winds were over Greene and Sumter Counties.

The NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Greene County where there are impressive winds indicated on Doppler. Winds may reach 60-70 mph in this storm.

The NWS has issued significant weather alerts for parts of Fayette, Marion, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston Counties as well as the storms move through.

Winds may gust to 45 mph with these storms.

The showers and storms re ahead of a sharp cold front. Temperatures drop about 20 degrees in the first hour after the front passes.

EUTAW…AND MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH.
