Nice Afternoon

| January 26, 2013 @ 1:44 pm

What I thought was probably going to be a mostly cloudy day for North and Central Alabama has actually turned out to be very nice with lots of sunshine. Most of the clouds have been in South Alabama along and behind the cold front which moved through North Alabama earlier today. It does appear likely that clouds will return late this afternoon and into the nighttime hours.

With the sun, temperatures climbed nicely into the lower and middle 50s across North and Central Alabama. Temperatures were still in the 60s across South Alabama with 70 degrees being reported at Mobile.

We’re looking for a nice warmup through Tuesday before the next round of thunderstorms comes our way. A strong southerly flow Tuesday could take afternoon highs into the lower 70s. There is still a risk for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday as a squall line is likely to move through Central Alabama. Conditions might favor an isolated risk of tornadoes, too, but timing of the bad weather is still somewhat in question.
