Severe Thunderstorm/Flooding in Las Vegas

An extraordinary night in Las Vegas tonight as severe thunderstorms have brought high winds and flooding rains to the city.

Here is the radar from 9:25 p.m. CDT tonight as the storms moved into the city:

Winds gusted to 71 mph at Nellis AFB and over two inches of rain was reported.

Officially 0.22 inches at McCarran so far, still enough to be a record for the date.

Swift water rescues were required as intersections flooded. Trees were downed, including a 30 foot tree, along with numerous power lines.

Here is a picture from Twitter of flooding in front of the Rio, with a sofa from a nearby lounge that blew into the road.

The roof at Gilley’s Nightclub on The Strip collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The Best Buy at the Galleri sustained wnin damage.
