| April 29, 2015 @ 6:23 am

WET START TO THE DAY: Rain continues across much of Alabama this morning as an upper trough passes overhead, but the rain will fade away later today.

Clouds linger through the afternoon, and the high today should be in the upper 60s for most places.

TOMORROW: Upon further review, I think we will need to insert the risk of a few isolated afternoon showers due very cold air aloft, and a surface boundary passing through the state. It won’t be a big deal, and most places will be dry, but the high resolution NAM does suggest a few spots could see a brief afternoon shower. Otherwise, the day will be partly sunny with a high in the low to mid 70s. It will also rather windy, with a gusty north wind of 10-20 mph.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Spectacular spring weather, with sunny pleasant days, clear cool nights, and a slow warming trend. We will see a high around 70 Friday, then in the mid 70s Saturday afternoon, followed by 80 degree warmth Sunday. Friday morning will be pretty cool with a low down in the mid 40s.

NEXT WEEK: The pattern looks generally warm and dry for Alabama as we have an upper ridge over the eastern U.S. Expect partly sunny days with highs in the 81-85 degree range through at least Wednesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: We expect dry weather today with a partly sunny sky and a high in the 70s… and the great weather continues through the weekend and into early next week with sunny days and fair nights. Highs on the immediate coast will stay in the 70s, and the sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab this morning is 72 degrees.
