Forecaster: Ryan Stinnett

REST OF TODAY: A sun-filled sky covers Alabama today and after the chilly morning, with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s, afternoon highs are surging into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Average high for Birmingham today is 70° so we are right at seasonal values. Tonight, will be another clear and cold one with upper 30s and lower 40s once again.

ACROSS THE USA: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will continue through Thursday along the Southeast Coast through the Carolinas. Heavy to excessive rainfall may lead to flash, urban and small stream flooding. A strong winter storm will bring blizzard conditions to the Arctic coastline in Alaska through Thursday.

GOOD FRIDAY-EASTER SUNDAY: This will be nicest weekend of weather so far this year for Alabama. It will be rain-free with some chilly mornings and sunny, pleasant afternoons. Highs will be in the low 70s tomorrow, mid to upper 70s Saturday, and likely low 80s on Sunday. For those sunrise services Sunday, it will be clear and cool with temperatures in the lower 50s.

NEXT WEEK: Monday looks warm and dry with highs in the low to mid 80. Then, we will have some risk of rain and storms on Tuesday, and some storms could be strong. In fact, the Storm Prediction Center has the northern third of Alabama outlined in a risk of severe weather. The air will be unstable, but it looks like the better dynamics will be well north of Alabama, but we will continue to watch trends in the coming days. Dry and cooler air returns to Alabama Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 60s, followed by 70s on Friday.
