With the threat of freezing rain and sleet accumulations almost completely over, NWS Birmingham has allowed the Winter Weather Advisory along with the Ice and Winter Storm Warnings to be canceled or expire. A Hard Freeze Warning goes into effect for all of Central Alabama later tonight.
Expiration times have been edited to now expire at 4:00 pm this afternoon instead of 9:00 pm tonight.
Winter storm watches and warnings have been issued for parts of North and Central Alabama for expected impacts from potentially heavy mixed wintry precipitation starting tonight in the northwest and spreading across the area on Monday.
As the expected snowfall totals continue to look to be less, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has canceled the Winter Storm Warning that was in effect until 12:00 pm today.
The Winter Storm Warning for Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Randolph, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston counties has been canceled.
North Alabama counties removed from the Winter Storm Warning: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan.
The forecast snow amounts for Marengo and Perry counties has been upgraded to two inches now, prompting an upgrade of the winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning.
An additional row of counties to the south has been added to the Winter Storm Warning. Hazardous driving conditions are expected starting late tonight. They will continue until mid-morning Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville has cancelled the Winter Weather Advisory FOR Cullman, Marshall, and Dekalb counties.
The NWS has upgraded the winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning for the rest of the Birmingham metro including Jefferson, Tuscaloosa and St. Clair Counties.
