The new month starts off the way the last one ended, dry and very warm. Today we are seeing temperatures surge into the 80s for most locations despite more clouds than sun in the sky. Tonight will be mainly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
The rain today will come in waves, with some breaks in the rain for a couple of hours, then a couple of hours of rain. We are seeing a few peeks of sunshine today as well, but overall clouds will win the day.
A few isolated showers will remain possible this afternoon across Alabama, but nothing widespread or heavy. We are seeing more clouds than sunshine; overall it is a pretty decent Wednesday across Alabama.

We are seeing a widespread soaking rain with embedded rumbles of thunder across Alabama today. Today is one of those days we can day there is a 100% of rain, with every part of the state seeing the wet stuff. The rainfall is heavy at times, and some areas of isolated flooding are possible.

RADAR CHECK: Rain is falling this afternoon in Alabama as far north as Grove Hill, Greenville, and Luverne. This is ahead of a surface low in the western Gulf of Mexico that is moving slowly east/northeast.
RADAR CHECK: We have a little light rain on radar this afternoon over parts of North and East Alabama, but with limited moisture and weak dynamic forcing rain amounts have been very light, generally not enough to measure. We will maintain the chance of a few sprinkles tonight and early tomorrow, but many places won’t see a drop.
RADAR CHECK: While the sky is mostly clear across Alabama at daybreak, we note a narrow band of showers west of the state along a cold front over West Tennessee and North Mississippi. We will continue to mention some risk of scattered showers or sprinkles across Alabama later today and tonight, but withy very limited moisture and weak dynamic support this certainly won’t be a really meaningful rain event.
