A weak upper trough to our west, along with very high moisture levels will allow for scattered to numerous showers and storms today through Sunday. Rain chances are in the 70-90% range the next three days.
Rain chances have increased to the 40-50% range today across much of Alabama. We are seeing a partly sunny sky with highs in the mid to upper 80s. This afternoon, showers and storms will begin to increase in coverage due to daytime heating.
We are seeing a partly sunny sky today with only isolated showers and storms on the radar across Alabama. For the rest of today, these will remain widely spaced.
It has been a wet and stormy this morning, and storms will continue to be a threat through the afternoon and evening hours. Stronger storms will be capable of producing strong, gusty winds and hail, and there is a non-zero tornado threat.
An approaching front from the north, will be the forcing mechanism for multiple rounds of storms through the weekend. The lift from the front, and the instability of the very warm and tropical air mass in place, will allow for strong and likely some severe storms.
The Storm Prediction Center has nearly all of Alabama in threat of severe storms on Saturday, with the northern three-quarters of the state in a level 2 threat.
It is a wet Wednesday for some across Alabama today as tropical moisture surges in from the south and east. However, many locations will remain dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Rain chances today are in the 20-50% range, with the higher rain chances over East and South Alabama. Highs today are in the mid to upper 80s.
A cold front is pushing through the state currently, and along the front we are seeing showers and storms develop along the front moves through.
The widespread rain and storms from the morning hours continues to gradually push east out of the area, and most of the afternoon looks to be dry for much of North and Central Alabama. However, we can’t rule out some additional scattered showers and storms this afternoon in some locations.
The wet and stormy pattern persists today through Friday across Alabama with warm and muggy conditions; highs in the low to mid 80s. Rain and storms are possible at any time and when and where the storms develop, they could be strong to locally severe.
The weather just is not changing much through Thursday as each day will feature rain and strong storms, and the Storm Prediction Center has a severe weather risk each day for Alabama.
