ONLY ISOLATED SHOWERS THROUGH MEMORIAL DAY: Alabama’s weather will stay quiet today and over the holiday weekend with temperatures below average. We will mention a risk of isolated showers on daily basis through Sunday, but the chance of any one spot seeing rain is in the 10-20 percent range. The high today will be in the low 80s, but a surface low to the east near the coast of the Carolinas will help to pull down cooler air into the region over the weekend.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms continue across parts of East-Central Alabama this afternoon. The storms are dropping southward, and heavier ones are producing strong gusty winds and some hail. A few counties have been placed under severe thunderstorm warnings. SUMMER-LIKE PATTERN CONTINUES: We note a few scattered showers over the northern quarter of Alabama just before sunrise, otherwise it is a mostly cloudy, humid morning with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. Look for a mix of sun and clouds today with a high in the mid 80s; a few widely scattered showers could develop this afternoon; the chance of any one location seeing rain is 20-30 percent.
LIKE SUMMER: Temperatures are mostly in the low to mid 80s across Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. Showers are most active over the southern half of the state, but a few isolated showers have formed over the northern counties as well.
WARM, DRY WEATHER CONTINUES: Today will be another sunny, warm day for Alabama with highs in the mid 80s this afternoon, almost ten degrees above average for mid to late April.
WARM APRIL AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 80-85 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a cloudless sky. Tonight will be clear with a low in the 50s.
RADAR CHECK: A few isolated showers have formed across Northwest Alabama this afternoon, but the rest of the state is warm and dry with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Temperatures are in the 80s, about 10-15 degrees above average for April 5.
ANOTHER VERY WARM DAY AHEAD: Morning clouds will give way to a partly sunny afternoon, and we project temperatures in the 84-88 degree range again this afternoon. Not far from record levels, and well above average. Today’s average high for Birmingham is 73, and the record high for April 5 is 88 set in 1967 and 2010. A few isolated showers could pop up this afternoon, but most places will be dry.
SUMMER PREVIEW: As advertised, temperatures are in the 80s across Alabama this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky. The radar is quiet at mid-afternoon… we will maintain a small risk of a shower through the evening hours. Low clouds will form again late tonight with temperatures in the 60s.
VERY WARM: We are forecasting highs in the 84-88 degree range across Alabama today and tomorrow… it will be the warmest weather so far this year. Morning clouds will give way to a partly sunny sky both days with just a few isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms…. the chance of any one spot seeing rain each day is in the 10-20 percent range.
SUNNY, WARM AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 78-83 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. The sky will stay mostly fair tonight with a low between 58 and 63 degrees.
WARM MARCH DAY: With a mostly sunny sky, we are forecasting a high in the 81-85 degree range this afternoon, making it one of the warmest days so far in 2023. The average high for Birmingham on March 23 is 69. The day tomorrow will also be warm and dry with a high in the low 80s.
THIS AFTERNOON: With a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures are generally in the 77-83 degree range across Alabama, well above average values for early March. We note a few isolated showers over the southern counties of the state; those will dissipate after sunset. Tonight will be mostly fair, and the weather begins to turn noticeably colder with lows in the 40s and 50s by daybreak tomorrow.
