RADAR CHECK: A large mass of rain and storms is over West and Southwest Alabama early this morning in the tropical airmass that covers the Deep South. Unsettled weather continues today with occasional rain and a few strong thunderstorms… all 67 Alabama counties are in a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms as defined by SPC. Heavier storms could produce hail and strong gusty winds, like recent days.
At 900 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Jacksonville State University, or near Jacksonville, moving northeast at 15 mph.
At 540 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles south of Fort Benning/lawson Army Air Fld, or 15 miles southwest of Cusseta, moving north at 35 mph.
RADAR CHECK: Clusters of showers and strong thunderstorms continue to move northward through Alabama this afternoon. Heavier storms are capable of producing hail and strong winds; a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms remains defined for all of Alabama through tonight.
Today through Thursday we continue to have a very warm and muggy air mass in place across the state. We are seeing more clouds than sun with temperatures ranging from the mid 70s to mid 80s.
