On This Day In Alabama History: Alabama Shakespeare Festival Opens New Theater In Montgomery
Star-studded gala opens new era for the theater company
There are more clouds across southern and eastern portions of the state but for the most part, I think through the rest of the afternoon we will continue to see more sun than clouds.
We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds across Central Alabama today, but clouds will be back on the increase on Sunday with the potential of a few showers. Much of the work week looks to feature a good bit of the wet stuff.
RADAR CHECK: Most of the rain in Alabama at mid-afternoon is south of a line from Lafayette to Greenville to Mobile; we have some temporary clearing behind the rain over parts of North and West Alabama. Temperatures are mostly in the 50s; clouds will fill back in statewide tonight with just a few patches of leftover light rain or drizzle tonight.
Rain and a few embedded thunderstorms continue to push across the west and west-central parts of Central Alabama as we have made it to the noon hour on this last day of the first work week of December.
Significant Weather Advisory issued for portions of Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Greene, Fayette, and Lamar counties until 11:30 am.
A line of heavier rain and thunderstorms is in the process of pushing across the Alabama/Mississippi state line as of 10:15 am, and one of the cells within the line is trying to misbehave at the moment.
A Significant Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of Pickens & Lamar counties until 10:45 AM.
WET AT TIMES: Today will be a cloudy and cool day across Alabama with periods of rain, and possibly a thunderstorm. Temperatures will hold in the 50s over the northern half of the state today, so the air is stable and there is no risk of severe storms. The rain tapers off this afternoon, and tonight will be mostly dry with only isolated patches of light rain or drizzle. Rain amounts should be generally 1/2 inch or less over the next 12 hours.
