Midday Nowcast: Another Alabama Scorcher; Some Afternoon/Evening Storms Expected
Hot temperatures, high humidity, and random afternoon and evening storms, it looks and feels a lot like late July in Alabama.
THE HEAT IS ON: Hot summer weather continues to be the weather headline for Alabama and the Deep South. Highs will be in the mid 90s today and tomorrow, and much of the state is under a “heat advisory” due to the potential for heat indices near 105 at times thanks to the high dew points.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few spotty showers and storms over East and South Alabama, but much of Alabama is dry this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. Temperatures are generally in the 88-94 degree range; showers will fade after sunset.
DOG DAYS OF SUMMER: In mid to late July in Alabama just about anybody can produce a daily weather forecast. Just say hot and humid with an afternoon shower or thunderstorm in spots and you will be correct. That is the story for Alabama this week and over the coming weekend.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are moving northward across Alabama this afternoon… stronger storms are producing heavy rain and lots of lightning. Away from the showers we have a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures generally in the 88-92 degree range.
