Wind Advisory in Effect the Rest of Today

| March 12, 2014 @ 10:00 am

We are watching a cold front that is rapidly moving across the state today. Behind the front, temperatures are falling fast. Once the front passes your location, expect your temperature to fall the rest of today and for the winds to increase.

Nearly every county in the state of Alabama as been placed under a Wind Advisory. This advisory is in effect until 8PM this evening. As the front passes, winds will increase and will be sustained at over 20 mph, with gusts to over 30 mph.

There is an area of high pressure working in from the northwest, and an of low pressure in the Ohio Valley lifting towards the Northeast. The pressure difference between these two features will set the stage for quite the pressure gradient across the region today. This pressure gradient will cause very gusty winds behind the front and will be ushering in much colder air from the northwest.
