Flood Advisory Issued For Counties in East-Central Alabama

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flood Advisory until 2:30 PM CST for:

Cleburne County in east central Alabama
Clay County in east central Alabama
Randolph County in east central Alabama
Southern Calhoun County in east central Alabama
Central St. Clair County in Alabama
Northern Coosa County in east central Alabama
Talladega County in east central Alabama
Northwestern Chambers County in east central Alabama
Northern Tallapoosa County in east central Alabama

At 1234 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. One to two inches of rain are possible, with an additional one half to one inch possible behind the heaviest line. This amount will produce some minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Anniston, Oxford, Talladega, Sylacauga, Pell City, Jacksonville, Moody, Roanoke, Childersburg, Springville, Odenville, Heflin, Lineville, Ashland, Goodwater, Wedowee, Talladega Springs, Saks, Stewartville and West End-Cobb Town.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
