Heads Up Chilton, Elmore, Shelby, Tallapoosa, & Coosa Counties

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR CHILTON, NORTHWESTERN ELMORE, SOUTHWESTERN SHELBY, NORTHWESTERN TALLAPOOSA AND COOSA COUNTIES UNTIL 4:15 PM CDT

At 3:49 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Chilton County Motor Sports Park to near Verbena to Jacksons Gap. Movement was north at 30 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Alexander City, Calera, Clanton, Montevallo, Jemison, Goodwater, Rockford, Kellyton, Equality, Weogufka, Thorsby, Jacksons’ Gap, New Site, Maplesville, Wilton, Goldville, Dollar, Bradford, Gap Of The Mountain and Titus.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
