Nice Steady Rain, But There Could Be Minor Flooding in Spots

| May 22, 2017 @ 9:54 pm

LATE REPORT 1004 PM
A flood warning has been issued for Village Creek near Avenue W in Ensley.

The creek has risen rapidly in the past couple of hours due to heavy rainfall in the area. The rain has tapered but additional rains will maintain the flooding.

Current radar on the left, storm total rainfall from today on right with darker green showing amounts over one inch so far.

A nice steady rain is falling across parts of Central Alabama tonight, but there has been enough rain in some spots to produce minor flooding. Some places have picked up between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain.

More rain is poised to move across these areas, generally along and north of I-59 over the next couple of hours, perhaps producing another inch of rain.

Minor flooding could result in some areas, especially across western and northern parts of the City of Birmingham up into northern Jefferson County.
