The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in Poor Drainage Areas for…
Winston County in northwestern Alabama…

* Until 1115 PM CDT

* At 912 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor
drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
One to two inches of rain has already fallen with another inch or
so possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Lynn, Arley, Double Springs, Addison, Houston Recreational Area,
Nesmith, Brushy Lake, Poplar Springs, Helicon, Inmanfield,
Ashridge, Sardis, Corinth Rec Area, Falls City, Moreland, Winston
Free State Barn, Houston, Clear Creek, Winston County Airport and
Grayson.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
