Late Morning Update

First some good news, the winter storm warning has been dropped for the southern line of counties. However, it has been replaced with a winter weather advisory, but still these areas could see some impacts on travel from wintry precip.

Now as the rain continues to fall, we are getting reports of snow and sleet mixing in with the rain across Central Alabama. There are reports of some glazing on surfaces in northwest Alabama and this may be an issue the next several hours, before we see the transition to snow. Once again, very little changes in our overall thinking, as the rain and sleet will become all snow this afternoon.

Heavy snow fall is being reported across Central Mississippi, southern Arkansas, and northern Louisiana. We will see this area of snow moving into Alabama. As stated earlier, this will be a significant winter storm for portions of Alabama.
